As the science on climate change has become more robust and the prospects for regulatory interventions and carbon pricing more real, a fundamental rethinking has started to take place. The China Daily Round Table and the contributions of its participants are additional proof that business and investors are now starting to consider options, realizing that climate change will lead to major discontinuities in strategies and business models, while ¨C in some instances ¨C creating new business opportunities.
Climate change has become a priority issue for the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate citizenship initiative. The upcoming Leaders Summit (5-6 July, 2007) will initiate and scale-up broad-based business actions to advance practical solutions.
